More business is being brought to Riverside County, and it’s not in ways most anticipated. Who would have ever thought that expanding medical facilities would create more opportunities for people than any other recent construction project in town? Riverside County has medical facilities that will achieve additional funds to expand their initiatives. The health system in Riverside is looking to utilize close to 300 million dollars in making their facilities a much brighter environment. The plan is to work halfway through the next decade. Close to half of the money used in this project will come from multimillion dollar bonds and this initiative is seeking approval by the industrial authority and Newport News City Council. Additionally, if the hospital is to be expanded and achieve the funds needed to carry out the project, it will face another stipulation money-wise. Funds from the bond must be used toward the mission of the project within three years.

This hospital expansion project will impact numerous medical centers including The Garden at Warwick Forest. This facility is known for housing a number of sick and elderly patients. As a part of this project, The Garden at Warwick Forest will receive new sleeping rooms and better technology to help with the up-keep of patient records. This is a major advancement to help support the further growth of the facility as well as the quality of service provided to patients. It is important that hospitals employ the latest technology to help process patient information more speedily and adequately, and the funds geared toward this expansion project are intended for that purpose.

Patriots Colony in the county of James City will also gain new expansions to their existing retirement facilities. New buildings provide self-sufficient living for some and a nursing home for others. This building project will be extraordinary given the fact that other facilities will become a part of the Patriots Colony. Currently, Patriots Colony does not have an emergency entrance—with the funds allocated toward expanding this retirement home, an emergency room will be added to the facility which will make it convenient for anyone experiencing illness to be readily viewed by a qualified doctor.

Beyond creating more opportunities for people to be cared for, this facility extension project is also a big win for the Riverside County community overall because more jobs will be created. It is estimated that close to 250 jobs will be brought to the community due to this one expansion project. The level of expertise required for these jobs has not been fully determined, but it can be safely assumed that both high and low level skillsets will be needed in order to maintain the facilities. Although change can be met with fear, it appears as though this project can only benefit the residents of the community, providing both better health options and job opportunities to people in need.
